The crowdfunding campaign was successful
Thank you!
I can’t believe it’s done. The Kickstarter campaign reached its target before 12 December 2025, which means the book is now partly funded even before it’s available for sale. I know crowdfunding has been around for a long time, but it’s striking how powerful the concept can be. I’m incredibly grateful to the 34 backers who pledged to help bring the book to life.
Delving into the demographics of my 34 backers, eleven are family or personal friends, eight are fellow writers from critiquing groups, and fifteen are complete strangers who found the project either on social media or directly through the Kickstarter platform. How amazing. Sixteen people are based in the UK, nine in the US, three in Germany, one in Canada, one in Denmark, one in Portugal, one in Finland, and two haven’t disclosed their location.
I’m perhaps more concerned about readers in the US. North America has a huge market of its own, and I’m not sure how engaged readers there will be with a story bearing mostly European references and influences. Or maybe it doesn’t make sense to categorise readers by location? There will always be people who like the book and people who don’t, but if they felt inclined to read it in the first place, there must be a common factor and a seed of appreciation.
On another exciting piece of news, the paperback proof arrived and it looks great.
I’m still waiting for the hardback proof to arrive before sending the physical copies to people who backed the Kickstarter campaign, and to readers who wish to receive an Advance Reader Copy (ARC). Although printed copies will only arrive after the festive period, the e-book is already available.
If you’d like to receive an ARC and write a review, please sign up on this link!
The book will be published on Amazon / Kindle on 1 March 2026.
That’s it for 2025, folks. It was a year with a lot of change, but I’m proud to have stuck with my original plan to publish The Seed Vault. It’s not as fun as writing it, but I’m happy to finally share the story with others. Stories are for sharing, right? Merry Christmas and all that.
