The Seed Vault - pre-order campaign

I owe an explanation to those who have been asking about this.

I was planning to launch the pre-order campaign for The Seed Vault two months ago. I got delayed.

Two main reasons:

1. I started a new job. The hyperfocus mode kicked in, and dopamine adjustments were needed before regaining the mental space for hobbies.

2. I’ve been struggling to create a promotional video. Over the summer, I spent hours on Midjourney generating images, hours selecting excerpts from the story, and more hours editing boring fade-ins and fade-outs, all to avoid something simpler yet more exposing such as a video of myself talking about the book. That was before the new job, of course.

Alas, I discarded all the videos, including this hilarious AI-generated edit based on a short brief:

The result was so cringe that I had to create a suitably ridiculous script for the voiceover. But then I started stressing with the sheer impact of the acknowledgement. How am I supposed to promote my books and if I can’t create video content? I’m doomed.

I haven’t solved that problem yet, but I’ve made a decision.

With or without a promo video, the pre-order campaign will go live in November.

I’m on track to publish the book in early 2026, and those who pre-order via Kickstarter will receive it first.

Watch this space.
